Step 2

Digital shade measurement systems such as the VITA Easyshade offer a remedy to this problem. The device is referred to as a spectrophotometer and records the shade information contained within the (dentin) core of the tooth, thus determining the correct tooth shade independently of any existing surface discolorations and biofilms. The VITA Easyshade's digital measurement system utilizes the constant a white light LED to accurately illuminate the tooth, and a fiber optic system to absorb and analyze the light scattered by the tooth. The microprocessor-controlled evaluation of the measurement results is based on an artificial intelligence procedure and accesses the shade information of thousands of natural teeth. The result is reliable information on the patient's tooth shade.
