VITAPAN EXCELL® Interview with master dental technician Benjamin Strasser
For every challenge: VITAPAN EXCELL®
About the person
VITA Zahnfabrik unveiled the new VITAPAN EXCELL prosthetic tooth at IDS 2017. A number of German dental labs were involved in testing this innovative tooth line. Benjamin Strasser, a dental technician at the Donau Dental laboratory in Regensburg had the opportunity to work with the next generation of the classic VITAPAN at an early stage. He primarily works with acrylics and produces all kinds of prostheses and combination work. He loves the new challenges that his profession presents and always strives to make dental restorations that imitate nature as closely as possible.
Mr. Strasser, what do you like most about VITAPAN EXCELL molds?
The VITAPAN EXCELL Anterior looks extremely lifelike, thanks to its natural shape. The wide palatal ridges are very well-designed because they are ideal for supporting the creation of interdental spaces or papillae.
What can you tell us about the shade and play of light with VITAPAN EXCELL?
The layering of the tooth follows the shade gradient of natural teeth and has a three-dimensional structure with an expressive surface texture. This ensures dynamic refraction of light.
What are the advantages of the uniquely layered structure of VITAPAN EXCELL?
Thanks to the structure, the color also remains stable after a faceted cut, for example. This facilitates harmonization with the remaining natural dentition.
How does the VITAPAN EXCELL prosthetic tooth lend itself to processing and polishing?
In my experience, the tooth is easy to grind and polish. The material is homogeneous - not too soft for polishing - and has excellent edge stability. This makes for efficient processing.
What are the best applications for the VITAPAN EXCELL prosthetic tooth?
It is generally suitable for all prosthetic work. Personally, I find the new line of teeth to be excellent for the production of highly customized restorations, especially for combination work.
