Create two out of one: An amazing transformation with VITA AMBRIA and VITA LUMEX AC

Abdelhalim Faris, Dental Technician
Al-Mansura, Egypt

When two laboratories have already been dealing with a difficult clinical situation, the planning must be meticulous and the choice of material must be appropriate for the indication. Right from start, the following was a clear departure from a typical conventional case and demanded top professional performance from the dental technical team. A young patient had been hoping for a change in the central incisors of her upper jaw, which were too wide. The true-to-shade and precisely pressable zirconia-reinforced lithium disilicate VITA AMBRIA and the multi-faceted veneering ceramic VITA LUMEX AC were selected in order to meet her high expectations. In the following, Dental Technician Abdelhalim Faris and Dentist Dr. Abdallah Farouk Redwan (both of Al-Mansura, Egypt) demonstrate how they successfully turned one front tooth into two.

Initial situation vs. final result

An unusual challenge

A 16-year-old female patient came to the practice because she had been suffering from her disproportionately wide central incisors for some time. After intraoral assessment and X-ray diagnostics, twinning was found at 11 and fusion at 21. Since both teeth needed to be treated in the same way for symmetry reasons, the decision was made to use two minimally invasive veneer treatments. The mixed shade A 2.5 was determined using the VITA classical A1-D4. After local anesthesia, minimally invasive recontouring of the gingiva and controlled preparation, the situation was moulded and a master model was made in the laboratory.
