Calibration of the press furnace

Setting the optimal press temperature

We recommend investing a wax grid together with the restoration for the first pressing.
After that, you can use these pictures to evaluate your press results and adjust the press temperature accordingly.

The grid has not flowed out, the restoration looks opaque.
The pressing temperature is far too low.
Procedure: Raise the temperature in 10°C-steps.

The grid has a smooth surface, but parts of the grid have not completely flowed out.
The pressing temperature is still too low.
Procedure: Raise the temperature in 5°C-steps.

The grid has flowed out almost completely.
The pressing temperature is minimally low.
Procedure: Raise the temperature slightly (approx. 5°C).

The grid has completely flowed out, the surface is smooth and shows no reaction layer.
The pressing temperature is optimal.

The grid has flowed out, the surface shows a light reaction layer.
The pressing temperature is a bit too high.
Procedure: Minimally lower the temperature (approx. 5°C).

The grid has flowed out, the surface is whitish and partly also porous.
The reaction layer is clearly visible.
The press temperature is too high.
Procedure: Lower the temperature in 5°C-steps.

The reaction layer is very pronounced, there are small cracks and holes in the edge area.
The restoration can appear transparent / colorless.
The press temperature is too high.
Procedure: Lower the temperature in 10°C-steps.
